Process/Chemical Engineering
Process/Chemical Engineering
Taku Engineering provides a suite of chemical engineering services including fuel gas process design, facility siting, and process optimization. Our chemical engineering team has a broad base of experience performing designs in remote arctic, sub-arctic, and logistically challenging locations.
We efficiently and accurately assess the state of our client’s infrastructure and recommend the most direct and cost-effective means to meet our client’s requirements, schedule, and budget. Whether it’s a new or existing facility, our chemical team can provide the fit-for-purpose design you need.
Our Services
Taku Engineering’s chemical team is experienced in a wide range of chemical design services from designing fit for service fuel gas systems to optimizing a process to increase efficiency. Our engineers have a proven track record of completing logistically complex projects with a commitment to the health, safety, and environmental standards of our clients.
Our services include the following:
- Fuel Gas Process Design
- Facility Siting
- Process Optimization
Fuel Gas Process Design
Fuel gas systems are designed to provide treated, dry, low pressure gas to equipment such as a turbine generator, compressor package, or glycol generator, meeting the requirements of the specific piece of equipment. The gas may come from a natural gas supply line, off gas from a facility process, or a combination of both. In addition, fuel gas may be used to provide blanket gas to tanks or vessels, or as supply gas to a flare stack pilot.
Taku Engineering’s team of engineers is familiar with the importance of precise pressure, temperature, and flow control needs inherent in each unique system. We work closely with our clients to deliver a system suitable to their specific needs, reliable in day-to-day operations and providing a safe environment for operational activities. Additionally, we provide recommendations for routine inspection to maintain reliability and address any associated corrosion issues.
Process Optimization
When a process is not optimized, it is more expensive to operate, equipment will wear out prematurely, and maximum capacity is not achieved. Taku Engineering works closely with our clients to thoroughly understand the process in question, reviewing the existing equipment, operating procedures, and controls in place.
We identify areas of improvement and cost savings, seeking to increase performance and raise capacity. Our team has worked with a variety of industries, from oil and gas production to water treatment, and has the experience and credentials to provide solutions for our clients’ process needs.
Facility Siting
Facility siting is the evaluation of occupied areas potential exposure to explosion, fire, or toxic hazards based on their proximity to process infrastructure. Per OSHA Standard 29 CFR Part 1910, completing facility sitings is a requirement for Process Safety Management (PSM) covered processes.
Additionally, as sites often change, facility siting should be reviewed and updated at least every 5 years per OSHA. Taku Engineering can assist in this continuous process, from performing the initial study to facilitating management of change procedures to minimize the risk associated with any changes to the facility
We offer experienced and expert process and chemical engineering services across the state of Alaska.
