Senior Designer
Mr. Zavacky was born in Dearborn, Michigan and grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He moved to Alaska in 2003 to join his brothers and their families. He now lives in Eagle River, Alaska
Starting his drafting career in Pittsburgh after graduating from Triangle Institute, he drafted and designed water treatment and chemical plants, pressure vessels, blast furnace piping and schematic diagrams, control panel design, wiring and assembly, PLC design, programming, smoke detectors, fire alarm and fire suppressions systems.
After working in an office environment for many years, he decided a hands on approach made sense and started working at a machine shop. He upgraded CNC machines with new wiring and controls, converting relay driven equipment to PLC control and operation. He learned to operate CNC, milling machines, fork truck, overhead crane, and general equipment upgrade and maintenance.
Alan has an excess of 35 years of AutoCAD drafting and design experience in piping, mechanical, structural, architectural, and electrical systems including 3 years of oil field grind and inject facilities. He has excelled in the Process Controls arena creating Process Flow Diagrams, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams as well as Plant 3D modeling and piping design with engineers and contractors in Alaska. He has also completed architectural designs and drafting for local Alaskan village building projects.
Alan likes to spend his free time sailing, hiking, biking, and traveling. Also, he plays guitar and enjoys playing at statewide festivals and local venues. He spends as much time with family as possible. After visiting all but 10 states, he loves to travel to exotic locations like Thailand, Japan, Mexico, and sailing in Belize.
